Inception of the Migration Project: Why do so many go? Exploring the role of international migration in livelihood recovery in post-conflict situations
Lead organization: Overseas Development Institute
Partners: Nepal Center for Contemporary Research/Sustainable Development Policy Institute
Building on the previous work of the Secure Livelihood Research Consortium, the research project explores the link between livelihood strategies and perceptions of the state legitimacy in post conflict situation. For doing so it takes the case of migration and analyses the role of migration as a livelihood strategy in context of past and continued conflict and other shocks and stresses. Methodologically it does so by comparing different socio-economic indicators of the migrant and non migrant household and their exposure to past and current conflict and other shocks and stresses.
