NCCR organized International workshop on "Gender equity, peace and security: Gender dimension of disarmament, demobilization and reintegration" on 23 November, 2016 at Hotel Himalaya. The programme was chaired by Associate Dean of School of Education of Kathmandu University. Four books published by Adroit publishers and authored/edited by NCCR researchers and collaborators namely: a) Livelihood Insecurity and Social Conflict, b) Making business count for peace; c) Food security in post conflict Nepal and d) Land agriculture and Agrarian Transformation were launched by Prof. Kailash Nath Pyakuryal, Professor Mana Pd. Wagle, Ms Bandana Rana and Mr. Subodh Pyakuryal. Dr. Deepak Bhatt, presented paper on "mapping of the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Activities for Female Ex-combatants in Nepal", Dr .Wenche Iren Hauge, Senior Researcher Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO) presented paper on Gender dimensions of DDR in Guatemala and general lessons; Mr. Cin Lian from Myanmar shared on on (ex-) combatant and peace process/DDR in Myanmar. Ms, Bandana Rana, Member of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) discussed on UNSCR 1325 and 1820 linking issues of female ex-combatants of Nepal.
